Baby Names

After our last loss, I deleted our long list of baby names. We had spent years building it up, but at the time I was hurting so bad I just couldnt stomach to look at it anymore.

Recently, we have started a new list and revived some of the past names. I think this is a sign we are heading in the right direction mentally! I really want to have these names on record and I figure if I ever delete them off my phone again, at least they will still be here should I ever want to reference them again.

Girls (in no particular order):

  • Clara
  • Claire
  • Fiona
  • Naomi
  • Gracie
  • Holly
  • Ruth (Ruthie)
  • Scarlet
  • Gwenyth (Gwen)
  • Elise (El)
  • Elsa (El)
  • Tinley
  • Rebecca
  • Jade

Boys (in no particular order):

  • Sylas or Silas
  • Noah
  • Ryan
  • Troy
  • Ezekiel (Zek)
  • Gabriel
  • Tyler
  • Floyd
  • Grant
  • Vance

We definitely do not agree on all these names thats for sure lol.  Im sure this is the case with most couples, right? However, we both do know that we want something strong and unique, perhaps biblical. We are also well aware we may pitch these names and come up with new ones later. But in the meantime, we are thinking all things baby and keeping a mindset that this is our year!!

  1. Love them all! Fiona is my niece’s name (she’s 22) and she is seriously one of the kindest, funniest and most awesome people I know. I can’t use the name because that’d be too many Fiona’s in one fam, but I have such positive associations with it. You can’t go wrong with any of these names.

  2. Love it!!

We had a list of names and didn’t use one from the list, but I think the list reflects that moment in time and is really healing and let’s us all dream and hope. It really helped me to look at my names from time to time.

My DH is a quiet, gentle guy and all his boy names from our first list sounded like game of thrones characters – this is before the tv show (though he did read the books). I remember looking at his picks and thinking: oh man… I hope we have a girl!

  3. Love your lists! I always had such an easy time coming up with girls names, but boys names are a different story. I deleted my list and haven’t thought about it in a while. But you are right, it does seem to indicate you are both in a good head space right now.

  4. Love thinking of baby names!!! Granted I say that and both times it has probably taken us 2 hours total to come up with first times for both of them, if that! This time middle name took a little longer, but not much lol. I think I had thought through so many names for so many years by the time I was pregnant I just knew! DeWayne always loved them. He named Jackson and I picked his middle name. I picked Kennedy and he picked her middle name. Not planned that way just worked out that way! Have fun!!!

  5. I have wanted to name a daughter Fiona since I was 7 years old. Unfortunately, my husband has not. I also love Clara, and Gwen made our final 4 for girls! I also absolutely adore Grant for a boy! I tried to talk my sister-in-law into using it because we were using a family name for Sweet Pea. You really can’t go wrong here! And as great as the names are, I’m really glad you are feeling able to make this list. 💗
